GUILTY GEAR STRIVE COSPLAY🗝️

My recent Naka-Kon adventure, where I got to rock my ABA and Faust cosplays, was an absolute blast! The energy at the con was incredible, and seeing so many amazing cosplayers really got my creative juices flowing. While ABA and Faust were super fun to bring to life, I've been dreaming big about my next Guilty Gear Strive project: the mighty Potemkin! Potemkin is a character that demands attention, not just with his massive physique and powerful moves, but also with his incredibly intricate armor design. Tackling a Potemkin cosplay feels like the ultimate challenge, and I've already started mapping out some ideas for how to conquer it. His sheer size is the first hurdle – this isn't just about making a costume; it's about building a wearable tank! For materials, EVA foam is definitely going to be my best friend. I’m thinking thick, high-density foam for the main armor plates, especially for his iconic gauntlets and chest piece. Layering different thicknesses will be key to getting that bulky, industrial look he has. For the more detailed, smaller elements, like the rivets and some of the smaller mechanical parts, I'll likely use Worbla or craft foam, which can be easily shaped and molded. The undersuit will need to be made from a durable, flexible fabric that can withstand the weight and movement of the armor without tearing. Construction will be a whole different beast. Scaling is paramount; I'll need to carefully measure and proportion every piece to ensure it looks accurate to his in-game model. I've been watching a ton of tutorials on large-scale armor patterning to get a head start. An internal support structure, possibly using PVC pipes or a lightweight metal frame, might be necessary to distribute the weight of the armor and keep it from collapsing under its own bulk. Attaching the pieces securely, but also making them removable for breaks and transport, will require a smart system of magnets, buckles, and heavy-duty straps. Then comes the fun part: finishing touches! Potemkin’s armor has a weathered, battle-hardened look, so painting and weathering techniques will be crucial. After priming, I'll lay down the base colors and then start experimenting with dry-brushing, washes, and even some faux rust effects to give it that authentic, worn metal appearance. I'm also considering adding some LED lights to mimic any glowing elements he might have, especially around his jetpack or the energy cores in his gauntlets, to really make the costume pop. Comfort and wearability are another huge consideration. A costume this big can quickly become uncomfortable, hot, and restrictive. I'll need to think about ventilation, strategic padding, and ensuring I can still see and move reasonably well. It's not just about looking good; it's about being able to wear it for hours at a convention. This is definitely going to be a long-term project, requiring patience and a good budget, but the thought of bringing such an iconic character to life is incredibly exciting! Wish me luck!
