The last of us.

... Read moreAs a huge fan of narrative-driven games, rediscovering The Last of Us (especially Part 1) has been an incredible experience. Beyond the stunning graphics and intense gameplay, what truly sticks with you are the profound themes woven into its very fabric. It's not just about zombies or a post-apocalyptic world; it's a masterful exploration of what it means to be human when everything else has been stripped away. At its core, The Last of Us grapples with survival and loss. Every character, especially Joel and Ellie, is defined by what they've lost and the desperate measures they take to hold onto what little they have left. The world they inhabit is brutal, a constant struggle for resources, safety, and a shred of normalcy. You see the remnants of society, often resembling a slaughter house of past hopes and dreams, with danger lurking around every corner. This constant threat forces characters into impossible choices, blurring the lines between right and wrong. It made me question, what would I do to protect someone I loved in such a dire situation? Another central theme is humanity and morality. The game brilliantly portrays that the greatest monsters aren't always the infected; often, they are other survivors. It explores the darker side of human nature—greed, cruelty, and desperation—but also showcases incredible acts of kindness, loyalty, and self-sacrifice. Joel's journey, in particular, is a testament to this, evolving from a broken man hardened by grief to someone capable of profound love and protection. It's a constant push and pull, making you question where your own moral compass would point. The unbreakable bond between Joel and Ellie is arguably the most powerful theme. Their relationship transforms from a reluctant partnership into a heartfelt father-daughter dynamic. Ellie, despite her youth, carries the weight of humanity's hope, while Joel finds a new purpose in protecting her. Their interactions, their banter, and their shared trauma forge a connection that feels incredibly real and vulnerable. This theme of finding family in unexpected places, and the lengths one would go for that family, drives the entire narrative of Part 1. Throughout their harrowing journey across a devastated America, each 'mission' or chapter serves to deepen these themes. From navigating overgrown cities to sneaking through dangerous quarantine zones, every step reflects the brutal reality of their existence and the emotional toll it takes. It’s not just a series of objectives; it’s a narrative arc designed to test their limits and solidify their bond. The game truly asks: what are you willing to sacrifice, and what are you willing to fight for, when the world has already taken so much?

Best USA destinations when you miss Europe
I'm not going to lie I'm always looking at flights to Europe. I'm constantly missing the cobblestone streets, local foods, rolling hills, and endless charm that Europe has to offer but, unfortunately I just don't have the time to jet off to Europe once a month to fill that void. Luc
