let's talk about owning a gaming laptop:

With owning a gaming laptop, I would say there are more cons than pros. This is coming from someone who has been a laptop player for 5 years and only transitioned to a custom PC a couple of years back (2022).

A gaming laptop is great for beginners or those who travel a lot, but it doesn't last long. After about 2 years, the quality starts to diminish, and by the 3-5 year mark, it's time for a new one. 💔 The hardware on these laptops is only good for a few years before needing to be replaced, and you can't customize parts unless it's explicitly stated. I love my Asus Rog laptop series, but over the years, the quality has dwindled. 😞 My gaming laptop crashes sometimes because the games are too heavy for it. It's always recommended to get a custom PC because they last longer, and you can easily change parts if needed. 🛠️

It's worth noting that gaming laptops can be 💸💸💸. The lower the price, the more you'll have to sacrifice on things like RAM, GPU, storage, etc. Many laptops are over $1,000 or even $1,400+, and sometimes you don't even get 1TB of storage. Some laptops are $1000 and only have 512GB, or they have 1TB of storage, but only an 8GB GPU. At that price, you're better off getting a custom PC so you can pick and choose what you want.

For serious gamers and tech enthusiasts, understanding the total cost of ownership—considering performance, potential repairs, and upgrades—can lead to a more informed decision. Community recommendations often lean towards custom PCs, highlighting their ability to adapt to the evolving landscape of gaming technology. When considering a gaming laptop, weigh your needs for portability against the long-term benefits of a robust custom setup.
