Hotpot Soup Base Review! 🔥🍲
Here's what we chose:
1) Meat
• Garoupa Fish Set with Sliced Beef
Loved how PERFECTLY fresh the fish slices were with not a hint of fishiness in them! Made from Australian Wagyu, the tender finely sliced beef was undeniably premium with its tenderness soaking up the flavourful broths.
- Canadian Scallop Set with Lamb
Am usually not a big fan of lamb due to their aftertaste, but this was definitely an exception! Was pleasantly surprised at how I couldnt taste any gameyness in the lamb leg slices
2) Soup Base:
We wanted to try a greater variety of soup bases, so we opted for the double flavour option, leaving us with a total of 4 soup bases for our order of 2 sets!!
• Laksa (Coconut Milk)
Topped with pieces of tau pok, found this fragrant soup base rly unique!! If you are not a fan of coconut milk, there's a fresh milk option as well
• Fish Maw Soup
Featuring ACTUAL pieces of fish maw in the soup, loved how flavourful and slightly peppery this was
• Sichuan Mala (Less Spicy)
For the mala lovers🔥 However, found this barely spicy so if you are looking for a spicy kick, you may want to opt for the normal one instead
• Bak Kut Teh
Deliciously peppery and flavourful, found this rly appetising!!
3) Staples
• Fried Rice with Prawns
Topped with Juicy Prawns, was amazed at how i could taste the wok hey in every scoop of the fried rice!!
• Lu Rou Fan
This featured a generous topping of braised pork gravy upon a bed of rice.
4) Beverages
At juz $2.99 each, we ordered the Iced Honey Lemon and Iced Lemon Wintermelon for a refreshing finish to our meal!
Overall, with the sizable portions, felt that the sets were rly value for money👍

When it comes to enjoying hotpot, the choice of soup base is absolutely crucial, as it sets the tone for the entire meal. Having tried a variety of bases including Laksa with its rich coconut milk aroma, Fish Maw soup with its slightly peppery depth, Sichuan Mala with milder spice, and the hearty Bak Kut Teh, I truly appreciated the diverse flavor profiles they offered. The Laksa’s unique addition of tau pok added a lovely texture contrast, making it a great choice for those craving something creamy yet fragrant. The Fish Maw soup deserves special mention for containing actual pieces of fish maw, which not only enhanced the flavor but also contributed to an authentic texture experience. For spice lovers, the Sichuan Mala soup was pleasantly manageable in its ‘less spicy’ version—perfect if you want that classic mala taste without overwhelming heat. Meanwhile, Bak Kut Teh delivered a robust, peppery punch that kept my palate excited throughout the meal. The premium meat selections elevated the hotpot experience significantly. The Garoupa Fish and Australian Wagyu beef were impeccably fresh and tender. The beef slices absorbed the broth beautifully, while the garoupa fish slices remained juicy without any fishy aftertaste. Similarly, the Canadian scallop and lamb set impressed, especially since the lamb leg slices avoided the usual gamey flavor, making it an enjoyable discovery for lamb skeptics like myself. Another highlight was the DIY condiments and sauce options, ranging from the uniquely flavored beef spicy sauce to the classic Lao Gan Ma chili. These additions allowed customization to your preferred taste and added complexity to each bite. Combined with free flow fruits and a vegetable platter included in the sets, the meal offered generous value for money. Enjoying sides like fried rice with prawns featuring that sought-after wok hei fragrance and the braised pork rice topped with luscious gravy further rounded out the meal. Refreshing beverages like iced honey lemon and iced lemon wintermelon at affordable prices completed the dining experience on a high note. Overall, this hotpot experience is highly recommended for its quality ingredients, diverse and flavorful soup bases, and well-thought-out accompaniments. It’s perfect for group dining or anyone wanting to explore a range of Singapore-style hotpot flavors without breaking the bank.
