Trading 101: entries & exits

1/19 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I first started trading, understanding how to align entries and exits with broader market context was a game-changer for me. Using higher timeframes allows you to grasp the bigger picture—like support and resistance zones and major market trends—while lower timeframes help pinpoint exact moments to enter or exit trades. For example, I often monitor a 30-minute chart to identify significant price levels such as the high and low of large bearish or bullish candles. In the case where gold is ranging on a 3-minute chart within that 30-minute range, I focus on key breakout points. Noticing where a breakout happens can mean catching strong moves at the very start, improving the odds of capturing profits. Using this approach, I regularly mark these critical levels and look for breakout or breakdown signals to execute trades in real time. It’s especially effective in futures day trading, where timing is crucial. By combining this strategy with reliable trading signals and a thorough mentor's guidance, I enhanced my trading consistency. Overall, aligning entries and exits with multi-timeframe context has helped me make better-informed decisions, reduce emotional trading, and manage risk more effectively. The key is patience: waiting for the confirmation from both higher and lower timeframes before jumping in. This balance between analysis and execution is essential for any trader looking to improve.
