Weekly Journal Setup

2024/1/22 Edited to

... Read moreJournaling has truly become a cornerstone of my routine, especially when it comes to navigating my health and wellness journey. While my weekly planner spread helps me keep track of to-dos and goals, I've found immense value in expanding my journaling practice to truly explore my feelings and discover different notebook formats. If you're wondering how to start writing feelings in a journal, my biggest tip is to simply begin. Don't overthink it! I often start with a simple prompt: "How am I feeling right now, and why?" Sometimes, I'll deep-dive into specific emotions, allowing myself to explore what triggered them and how they're influencing my day. It's like having a quiet conversation with myself, a safe space to process everything without judgment. I've noticed that getting these thoughts out onto paper, especially during challenging times, helps me gain clarity and reduces anxiety. Don't be afraid to write about your struggles or your triumphs; it's all part of your unique story and mental health journey. You can even use bullet points for quick emotional check-ins, or free-write for pages when you need to really unpack something. Beyond just tracking my weekly to-dos and major goals, I've experimented with various journal notebook formats to keep things fresh and functional. My current planner spread, as you might have seen, includes dedicated sections for habit tracking and my 'mind/body health plan,' which is crucial for staying consistent. But when I'm looking for more space to reflect, I'll switch to a dot-grid notebook for more flexibility. This allows me to create custom layouts, like dedicated gratitude logs, affirmation pages, or even mind maps for brainstorming. For those who love structure, a pre-printed weekly layout is fantastic, but don't hesitate to personalize it with stickers, highlighters, or even small drawings. The key is finding a format that encourages you to pick up your journal regularly. Looking for more journal ideas to get started or spark your creativity? Here are a few that have worked wonders for me: Gratitude Lists: Every morning or evening, jot down 3-5 things you're grateful for. It instantly shifts your perspective. Affirmations & Intentions: Write down a few positive affirmations for the day/week, or set clear intentions for what you want to achieve or how you want to feel. Brain Dump: When my mind feels cluttered, I just write down everything that's swirling around – tasks, worries, ideas – until my head feels clearer. Habit Tracker Expansion: Beyond just checking boxes, add a small reflection section for each habit. How did reading make you feel today? What challenges did you face with your glow-up routine? Weekly Reflection: At the end of the week, write about your biggest wins, challenges, and what you learned. This helps you appreciate your progress, even when it feels small, just like my note about feeling progress in my planner spread. Remember, your journal is a personal tool. There's no right or wrong way to do it. The most important thing is to make it a space that feels supportive and empowering for your unique health and wellness journey.
