The Chapter That Came First: Pre-ROM Thoughts 🤍✨

Before the gowns, the overseas celebration, and the destination wedding that’s coming later —

this post is about ROM.

The quieter milestone.

The legal beginning.

And the chapter that officially turns “we’re getting married” into “we are married.”

I’m a Bride2025, ROM-ed in 2025, and while our destination wedding celebration coming in less than 15 days 🤯 this is a sum up of my pre-ROM thoughts, reflections, and the journey that led us to this very first step.

And honestly? I feel excited, grateful, and so ready 🤍

Yes, wedding prep comes with stress — but this phase was never about grandeur or perfection. It was about intention, commitment, and choosing each other in the simplest, most meaningful way.

So this post is my pause button — a moment to look back what happens before ROM, before the celebrations, before the next big milestone.

📌 Chapter Recap: The Road to ROM

Vol 1: Wedding Hunting

Not just about venues, but about visualising a future together — and learning what truly matters to us.

Vol 2: ROM Preparation

Simple, intimate, and heartfelt.

This was when everything started to feel real-real.

Vol 3: Taobao Recommendations

Small details that made the process lighter, easier, and surprisingly fun.

Vol 4: 过大礼 (Guo Da Li)

Traditions took on new meaning when it became personal — families officially coming together.

Vol 5: Wedding Prep Thoughts

The mental load, the decisions, and the quiet teamwork behind the scenes.

Vol 6: ROM First, Party Later — Is It a Norm?

Learning that there’s no right sequence — only what works best for us.

Vol 7: Is Pre-Wedding Shoot Necessary?

Not a must, but something I’m now truly grateful we did.

Vol 8: 30 Visited ROM Venues — A Sum Up

Exhausting but clarifying.

No regrets, only confidence.

Vol 9: Change of Angbao, from taking to giving

A subtle shift in identity — from guests to a married couple.

Vol 10: Last Valentine’s as BF/GF

Titles change, love evolves, and celebrations don’t have to stop.

Vol 11: Do We Need PG/VG for ROM & Tea Ceremony?

Because ROM may be simple, but the memories deserve to last.

Vol 12: Countdown to ROM

Butterflies, excitement, and gratitude as the date drew closer.

Final Thoughts

• ROM is small, but emotionally huge

• You don’t need a big celebration for a moment to matter

• Stress exists, but joy outweighs it

• Planning is easier when you focus on why you’re doing it

• This is the beginning — not the finale

A Note to Myself (and Maybe You Too)

Writing this is my way of reminding myself that ROM is a milestone on its own, not just a checkbox before the destination wedding.

It’s the moment we officially chose each other — legally, intentionally, and wholeheartedly. Even without the overseas celebration yet, this chapter already holds so much meaning.

So if future me ever rereads this:

Remember how happy and grounded you felt.

Remember that this was about love, not scale.

And remember — this was the first “yes” before all the celebrations that followed 🤍

To all brides-to-be navigating ROM prep right now — this chapter matters. Enjoy it, be present, and let it be meaningful in its own way.
