How I Stay Sane as a Stay-at-Home Mom

📋here are the routines & habits that keep me grounded & feeling like me amidst the chaos.

if you have any suggestions or go-tos you’d like to share, i’d love to know! 🫡💓

1. my morning & nighttime routines keep me centered

starting & ending my day with structure makes everything in between smoother.

☀️ morning: i wake up at 4:44 AM for quiet time before the kids are up—stretch, meditate, workout, shower, & get dressed. having this time to myself makes a difference.

🌙 night: after the kids go down, i reset the house, spend time with my husband, & unwind with herbal tea, a face roller, & a little language learning before bed.

2. eating & drinking well keeps my energy up

it’s too easy to survive on toddler scraps & coffee, but i feel my best when i:

✅ eat a protein-packed first meal

✅ drink plenty of water, matcha, & tea

✅ take my supplements consistently

fueling my body helps my mood & patience throughout the day.

3. a weekly schedule gives my days structure

having assigned tasks for each day keeps me from feeling overwhelmed.

when i’m home in the day i can QUICKLY go from all or nothing & quickly back to nothing & everything.

a schedule helps!

🧹 monday-friday: i clean a different area of the house each day.

🏋🏾‍♀️ daily movement: cardio + a muscle group.

📚 homeschool & activities: play-based learning in the mornings, meet ups with friends at least twice a week & park days at least four days, classes & clubs between

🍽️ family & me-time: i make sure to schedule both!

4. options for each day keep life interesting

while i love routine, i also need variety. i rotate activities like:

🔹 morning walks or playground time

🔹 sensory or art projects with the kids

🔹 library visits or homeschool outings

🔹 afforded or free clubs & classes

above all, i’m happy to cancel when my kids & i need to. i recognize the privilege & lean in when it’s best🧘🏽‍♀️

5. podcasts & marco polo keep me connected

parenting can be isolating, so i stay social by:

🎧 listening to podcasts while cleaning/cooking

📲 using marco polo to chat with friends when we’re too busy for calls

💬 texting quick updates to friends who get it

6. i go to concerts & craft nights—alone or with friends

i need time outside of the house to recharge!

🎶 attending concerts is my favorite way to feel like me again.

🎨 craft nights (solo or with friends) give me something creative to look forward to.

making plans for myself makes me a happier mom at home.

what’s one thing you do to keep your sanity as a parent? let me know in the comments! ⬇️

... Read moreBeing a stay-at-home mom can often feel overwhelming, yet establishing grounding routines can significantly enhance mental wellness. Morning rituals like an early wake-up to meditate and engage in self-care foster a sense of control and relaxation to combat daily stressors. Hydration and healthy eating also play pivotal roles in sustaining energy and improving mood. Maintaining a structured schedule provides clarity throughout the week, allowing for assigned tasks, family bonding, and personal time. Moreover, incorporating variety into daily activities—such as creative projects with children or spontaneous outings—helps break the monotony of routine, keeping life exciting. For connection, consider engaging in community events, sharing experiences on social media, or utilizing platforms like podcasts. These resources not only offer entertainment but also foster a sense of belonging and understanding among fellow parents. Lastly, don't underestimate the value of getting out of the house—attending events like concerts or art classes, whether alone or with friends, can rejuvenate your spirit and create cherished memories. Embrace these strategies for a balanced, fulfilling parenting journey.
