📋how we scavenger hunt!
an accidental staple when hosting play dates has become simple scavenger hunts like these ✨ my daughter requested this guy from me today, reminding me (more than once) that she & her friend can both read now so please don’t make it too baby & full of pictures 😭 (it’s bittersweet when your kids catch on & start reading everything… she’s really great. you’d get on well 🫶🏾)
this was so fun! we did two little hunts today & the second time we unboxed an amazon order— 📦😂
how i set these up ⬇️
📝 grab some paper or sticky notes
✏️ write out 5-10 clues (decide locations first!)
📍keep it simple, sometimes rhyme, mostly don’t
🤷🏾♀️ don’t stress about handwriting or spelling or aesthetics or being clever or even hiding spots. kids just wanna play, the rest is fluff.
even the simplest clues feel like a win when kids are figuring them out & the more often we’ve done this, the better we’ve all become🏆 we take the game outside sometimes, add a little treat at the end, or make the reward the next activity 🍪🎨
also… i secretly love the time spent alone writing the clues with a nice beverage 😌 taking 5-15 minutes to prep with the very reasonable comment: “wanna play independently while i set up a scavenger hunt?” a true win for us all 💡
