Got some final things done before boarding a very long bus to get out of China as my visa-free period was quickly running out.

Traveling overland through multiple countries to visit the seven wonders of the world is an extraordinary experience that challenges conventional travel norms. On day 27, leaving China involved not only logistical planning but also reflecting on the cultural richness encountered. Traveling visa-free meant I had to keep a keen eye on my permitted stay and prepare thoroughly for the next leg. Although flying is the fastest way to cover great distances, choosing buses and overland transport offers unmatched opportunities to see the landscapes between iconic sites, meet locals, and absorb authentic experiences. For example, crossing from China by bus allowed me to appreciate the transitioning environment and the complex infrastructure supporting such journeys, including bustling metro stations, parking areas, and diverse transport hubs. Tracking daily stats like step count and expenses helps keep the trip manageable and insightful. Spending around $47 a day in China, I balanced comfort with budget traveling. Every day brought new discoveries, from Tibetan monasteries to UNESCO world heritage sites, enriching my perspective. For anyone considering embarking on their own seven wonders overland trip, embracing flexibility is key. Unexpected challenges like visa deadlines and long travel hours can be mitigated with good planning and an open mindset. Carrying essentials, staying informed about local regulations, and documenting your journey through photos or apps can enhance the overall experience. This journey is not just about reaching famous landmarks but about the cumulative experience of crossing borders, cultures, and histories by land. It’s a reminder that sometimes the journey itself becomes the most fascinating wonder of all.
