Traveling to Japan in the summer can be both exciting and challenging due to the intense heat and humidity. One of my top recommendations is always to carry a UV umbrella. Not only does it block 80-90% of harmful rays, but it also provides a refreshing shade to keep your body temperature down. I usually find them easily in convenience stores or at popular discount shops like Don Quijote. Another lifesaver for me is the handheld fan, especially the stylish FrancFranc brand available in Aeon malls. Holding one of these fans really helps reduce the uncomfortable sticky feeling from the heat and keeps me feeling fresh even after walking long distances. Don’t underestimate a simple hand cloth. I keep one soaked with cold water and place it behind my neck during breaks; it instantly cools me down and helps combat the sticky humidity. Hydration is key, and I swear by Pocari Sweat, a Japanese sports drink packed with electrolytes. It replaces the salts lost through sweat and keeps me energized without that overpowering sweetness found in some other drinks. Lastly, always wear a sunscreen with at least SPF 50. I trust brands like AQUA Rich Bioré for long-lasting protection against UVA and UVB rays, which is crucial to prevent skin damage under the fierce sun. Preparing with these items transformed my summer travels in Japan, allowing me to comfortably explore for hours without succumbing to the heat. If you’re planning your first Japan trip during summer, packing these essentials will definitely make your experience much more enjoyable and stress-free.
