We added a sink in our yard!

Why?

Our kitchen has limited space, so we can't accommodate a large or double-bowl sink. Having a separate sink in the yard would be practical for washing items like socks, rags and floor mats that you’d prefer not to clean in your washing machine.

We've looked for a good laundry sink in SG, but most options come with a cabinet. We're not interested in those as they seem a bit flimsy and don't match the design of our kitchen at all.

So we turned to taobao, and tadaaaaaa~

Our laundry sink has been working well for us. As for any downsides — the only one so far is that we have to stack our washer and dryer due to the limited space.

... Read moreHaving a sink in the service yard really transforms laundry days. I found it especially convenient for rinsing out heavily soiled items that I'd rather not toss directly into the washing machine. Since space in HDB flats is always a challenge, opting for a standalone laundry sink without cabinets keeps the area airy and functional. Stacking the washer and dryer was our solution to maximize the limited service yard space, although it took some adjusting to get used to. Choosing a sink from Taobao allowed us to find a sturdier design that matched our kitchen’s aesthetic better than many local options with flimsy cabinets. For anyone considering a yard sink, I’d recommend measuring your available space carefully and thinking about what you’ll use the sink for most. It can also serve as a handy spot for washing gardening tools, pet supplies, or even prepping food for outdoor cooking. In our experience, a well-chosen service yard sink adds real value and practicality to small home layouts without compromising style.

Not the kind of service yard you’ve seen before
Designed with functionality in mind 🤩! Originally we were quoted $3000 to do carpentry in the service yard. I decided to thrift furniture on Carousell and buy a dishwasher stand from Taobao, cutting our furniture cost to almost 10% of the original quote! All in all, I think we did good in hav

How I designed a super functional service yard!
Carpentry would’ve cost me $3000 but I spent $300+ on this laundry system that works extremely well for me. 🤩 I fit 4 appliances within the small space: - Washing Machine - Dryer - Dishwasher - Robot Vacuum I also have sufficient storage space to store: - Laundry essentials - Detergen

This is the original 4-room BTO plan. Clean, efficient, and a little deceptive in how fixed it felt. Then we started testing it. One layout became two, then five. Each version came from a question we forced ourselves to answer. 🫶🏼Question 1: If hosting was the priority We combined two bedr
