Monday chest day!
Dips for days. #chestday #bodytransformation #dips
Hey Lemon8 fam! So, you saw my 'Monday Chest Day' post, and yeah, dips are seriously my jam. They're such an underrated exercise, especially if you're looking to build a powerhouse chest without needing a ton of fancy equipment. I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how I get the most out of them, especially when I'm working out from home. Mastering Chest Dips at Home: You don't necessarily need a dedicated dip station to start. I've used sturdy chairs (just make sure they're stable and won't slip!) or even kitchen counters in a pinch. The key is finding two elevated, parallel surfaces that can support your weight. Start by positioning yourself between them, hands gripping firmly, arms straight. Lower yourself slowly until your shoulders are below your elbows, feeling that stretch in your chest, then push back up. If it's too tough, try assisted dips with a resistance band looped around your knees or feet, or even incline push-ups as a progression to build up your strength. How to Really Target Your Chest: This is where the magic happens! To maximize chest engagement, you need to lean forward significantly. The more upright you stay, the more triceps you'll hit. Think about bringing your chin towards your chest as you descend. Also, allow your elbows to flare out slightly, rather than keeping them tucked super close to your body. Focus on squeezing your pecs at the top of the movement. Slow and controlled negatives (the lowering phase) are also crucial for building muscle and feeling that deep chest activation. Trust me, once you nail this form, you'll feel your chest screaming in the best way! Beyond Dips: My Journey to Gaining Strength and Muscle (Especially for 'Skinny Girls'): Now, let's talk about building a body that feels strong and powerful. If you're someone who struggles to gain weight or wants to build muscle, like many 'skinny girls' looking for a transformation, dips are an excellent starting point, but they're just one piece of the puzzle. My personal journey to feeling like a 'BEAST' in the gym (or my home studio!) has taught me that consistency, progressive overload, and nutrition are non-negotiable. To gain muscle, you must be eating in a calorie surplus – meaning you consume more calories than you burn. Focus on protein, carbs, and healthy fats. Aim for at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight to support muscle repair and growth. Don't just stick to dips! Incorporate other compound movements into your routine. Think about bodyweight squats, lunges, push-ups (different variations!), and rows (using a sturdy table or resistance bands). These engage multiple muscle groups, stimulate overall growth, and help distribute muscle development evenly. Track your progress – try to add an extra rep, a set, or improve your form each week. It's a marathon, not a sprint, but with dedication, you'll be amazed at the body transformation you can achieve. Remember, strength isn't just about size; it's about feeling capable and confident. Unleash your inner BEAST and enjoy the journey!
