If these aren’t on your TBR . Then what are you doing ? I wish I could read these for the first time all over again. Yes these are all by Black woman. Yes EVERYONE should read them. Each one is amazing, embraces vulnerability, and just an overall great read.
✨Amanda Seales is so smart funny & educated. IYKYK. Once you pick this up you will not be able to put it down. It is so real. I promise even if you think this is not for you… IT IS. & it’s perfect because you can read it in small doses .
✨ You Are Your Best Thing. I mean the title speaks for itself. This anthology is a collection of many women’s stories and captures the beauty of resilience. (& not in the ‘strong black woman trope’ type of way) Some of these stories do get a little heavy but still worth the read. Tread lightly!
✨Sing A Black Girls Song. This is a collection of Shange’s work . (You might know her from For Colored Girls) I don’t know how I feel about someone’s work being published after they pass, BUT I am glad that this art is out in the world. Because WHAT?! I can barely put into words how good this book is. Poems, Essays, plays ? Just amazing. READ IT & come back to tell me all about it .
