Why I make Art ✨🐻

Hello 👋🏽 my name is Charity and I have been needle-felting for just over a year now. But l've been creating my whole life. I'm someone who often times struggles to convey my feelings through words and since I was little I would pour my heart into the things that I make. I hope that I can bring a little moment of joy or peace into your world as I share my little creatures. Thanks for stopping by, l'm glad you're here ♥️

... Read moreIt's funny, before I started needle-felting, sometimes I felt like I had a whole world of emotions inside me, but the words just wouldn't come out. Have you ever felt that way? Like there's so much bubbling up, but trying to explain it verbally just makes it all shrink away or get jumbled? That's exactly why art, especially needle-felting, became my secret language. When I pick up my felting needle and a tuft of wool, it’s like a conversation begins. Each poke and prod isn't just shaping fiber; it's shaping an emotion, a memory, or a feeling that needed an outlet. There’s a quiet rhythm to it that's incredibly calming, almost meditative. It allows me to process things without the pressure of finding the 'right' words. Sometimes, a little grumpy bear emerges when I'm feeling overwhelmed, or a peaceful little bird when I'm feeling hopeful. These 'little creatures' aren't just cute; they're tangible representations of my inner world, and creating them brings such a profound sense of relief and understanding. Many of you might be wondering, 'How does needle-felting work?' or 'Where do you even begin?' It's simpler than you might think! All you really need to start is some wool roving (that's the fluffy, unspun wool), a special barbed needle, and a felting mat. You essentially poke the wool repeatedly with the needle, and the barbs interlock the fibers, making them dense and firm. It's a very forgiving medium, which is perfect for someone like me who loves to just 'feel' my way through a project. There's no right or wrong, just exploration. What I love most is that each creature, no matter how small or simple, holds a piece of my journey. It's not about perfection; it's about the process and the expression. For instance, I recently finished a tiny fox, and as I was working on its bushy tail, I realized I was channeling a feeling of quiet resilience I'd experienced that week. When someone sees it, they might just see a cute fox, but for me, it's a small victory, a moment of triumph over unspoken struggles. It’s creating a really nice vibe around my feelings, a positive way to interact with them. If you're someone who also struggles to articulate your feelings, or just needs a creative outlet, I wholeheartedly encourage you to try something new. It doesn't have to be needle-felting; it could be painting, writing, pottery, or even gardening. The act of creating, of bringing something new into the world from your own imagination and hands, is incredibly powerful. It offers a unique form of self-care and a beautiful way to connect with yourself. Give yourself permission to explore, to make messes, and to discover the joy that comes from making something truly your own. You might be surprised at what you create, and the peace it brings.

Why I swapped!
Overall, I’ve enjoyed Notability better for school note taking! ✨Better Organization: I don’t have to flip through tons of pages to find what I’m looking for. With dividers and sections, I can easily find notes I need to review. ✨My handwriting looks better. This is probably my biggest reason!

we live in a world that loves stimulation!! so much so that sometimes letting ourselves be bored can make us feel like we’re literally crawling out of our skin 🥴 but being bored is sooo important for our mental health, our joy, our creativity, and our sense of childlike wonder! 💞🎨💫 the older

Why I quit 'art school'
(The photo pictured above is my art.) Admittedly I was CONVINCED that because I loved art, art school was an automatic next step. Everyone around me was super supportive and convinced that because I had some "talent" that to not attend art school would be a waste. So I signed up for a BFA

why is it *so* taboo?! 😵😵‍💫🤫🫠😬😑
This is a topic I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. As women, we often aren’t taught how to deal with money, or accepted in spaces that deal with financial conversations. We are told to tackle the “home” while the man tackles the “harder” things, aka finances, etc. I found an interesting ar

Why did an art teacher say "that's impossible" ?
One pen. Two tips. More color combinations than a standard 24-color set — because these colors don't just sit side by side, they transform each other. When someone who knows color is shocked, that's when you know it's real. #stationery #satisfying #artsupplies #drawing
