Until one day, my girlfriend brought home some fruit called “mangosteen” — I’m not even sure if that’s the right name, but doesn’t matter!

My last post about the 'mangosteen egg' was just one little step in my epic '100 Ways to Cook Eggs' challenge, and honestly, the struggle to come up with new ideas is real! But that's what makes it fun – pushing ourselves to discover new flavors and textures from this simple, incredible ingredient. I mean, an egg is an egg, but what you do with it? That's where the magic happens! When I first started this challenge, I thought, 'Okay, I know scrambled, fried, poached… maybe an omelette.' But there's so much more out there! Let's dive into a few more ideas for how you can cook an egg, going beyond the basics to spark your own kitchen adventures. First, mastering the classics is key. A perfectly scrambled egg should be fluffy, not dry. My secret? Cook them low and slow, stirring gently, and pull them off the heat just before they're fully set. For a sunny-side-up fried egg, a little butter in the pan and basting the yolk with the hot butter makes the edges crispy and the yolk runny – pure perfection! Poached eggs might seem intimidating, but a swirl in simmering water with a touch of vinegar always helps them hold their shape beautifully. And don't forget the humble hard-boiled egg – perfect for quick snacks or salads, just remember to plunge them into an ice bath right after cooking to stop the process and make peeling easier. But the real fun begins when you start experimenting! Have you ever tried Shakshuka? It's a Middle Eastern and North African dish where eggs are poached directly in a rich, spicy tomato sauce. It's incredibly flavorful and a fantastic way to elevate a simple breakfast or brunch. Or how about Cloud Eggs? You whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, fold in some cheese, bake them, and then drop the yolk into the fluffy cloud for the last few minutes.
