Writing when you’re sick??

This weekend was exactly what I needed!! No writing. No productivity. Just snowballs and fireworks and sitting by the pool with family.

I didn’t realize how quickly time passed or how long it had been since I last opened my computer to write. A couple days felt like forever. A couple days felt like no time at all.

It’s okay to not write sometimes.

It’s okay to only write a couple hundred words when you finally get back into the routine of writing again.

It’s okay.

Don’t give up on your progress!!

... Read moreWhen you’re sick or feeling under the weather, it’s important to prioritize your health over productivity. Writing can be a demanding mental task, and pushing yourself too hard during illness may lead to burnout or longer recovery times. Embracing rest not only helps your body recuperate but can also rejuvenate your creativity. Many writers find that stepping away from their work for a short period allows new ideas to form and fresh perspectives to emerge. It's perfectly normal to write less or produce fewer words after a break. Writing a couple hundred words after illness is a strong step back into your routine rather than an indication of lost skills or motivation. Consistency matters more than volume. Even small writing sessions can build momentum and rebuild confidence. Including hashtags such as #writingabook, #writercommunity, #writersoflemon8, and #writingmotivation connects you with supportive writing communities. These groups often share advice on coping with slow days and overcoming creative blocks during illnesses or life’s challenges. Additionally, recognizing oneself as part of the broader LGBTQ+ community (#lgbtq🌈) reflects the diversity and inclusivity present in many creative circles. Such support networks enhance emotional resilience, which is vital when balancing health and creative work. Remember, your progress as a writer is a marathon, not a sprint. Life’s pauses, including those caused by sickness, are natural and can lead to stronger, more inspired writing in the long term. Taking care of your well-being ultimately benefits your craft.
