I've been experimenting a lot myself, especially with adding structural elements like city walls, and I've got some thoughts to share based on my builds. When thinking about a Mizuno city wall, the key is to embrace that rustic, European feel. For block palettes, I've found that a mix of stone bricks, andesite, and cobblestone works wonders for the base. To add that Mizuno charm, try incorporating spruce wood planks or logs for accents, like battlements or support beams. The texture pack really makes these blocks pop with a softer, more detailed look. Don't forget to vary your block types slightly to avoid a monotone look – maybe some mossy cobblestone or cracked stone bricks for age and character. I often add small details like lanterns or torches along the wall, and even some vines climbing up to give it an ancient, lived-in feel. Beyond the main wall, consider what kind of gatehouse would fit. A grand, sturdy gatehouse built from similar stone and wood blocks, perhaps with a pointed roof using dark oak stairs or even a custom roof design, would be amazing. You could also include watchtowers at regular intervals along the wall. These could be simple, square towers or more intricate round ones, again using the core stone/wood palette. I love adding little windows with iron bars or trapdoors to give them a defensive look. For other buildings in your French Chaumière village, think about the essentials. Every village needs charming houses! With the Mizuno pack, I lean towards white concrete or quartz for walls to mimic stucco, paired with spruce or dark oak for timber framing. Dark oak stairs make fantastic thatched roofs in this style. Inside, use cozy furniture and lots of natural light. How about a bakery with a prominent brick oven, or a small market square with stalls made from stripped oak logs and wool awnings? A little church or chapel with a bell tower would also be a lovely centerpiece, perhaps using a slightly grander version of your chosen wall palette. Don't forget practical village elements like a well (stone bricks and a spruce trapdoor lid), farms (wheat, carrots, potatoes), and perhaps even a windmill if you have space! One of my favorite things to do is to think about the story of the village. What kind of people live here? What do they do? This helps me decide what buildings to add and how to detail them. For example, a small blacksmith with a working forge, or a fisher's shack by a river. The Mizuno texture pack truly shines when you pay attention to these small details, making each building feel unique and purposeful. I'm excited to see what amazing French Chaumière villages you all create!
