love my own company most

8 hours agoEdited to

... Read moreI've found that loving your own company is one of the most grounding and empowering experiences a person can embrace. When you learn to be comfortable with yourself, it strengthens your self-awareness and reduces reliance on external validation, which can often lead to distraction or discouragement. In my own journey, embracing solitude allowed me to reconnect with what truly matters and helped me recognize the subtle ways negativity can creep in through doubt and disappointment, similar to the story of the priest who was affected not by external attacks but by his own feelings about his brother’s success. That tale illustrates how internal struggles like envy and discouragement can quietly erode our happiness and purpose. To combat these challenges, I started practicing mindfulness and journaling to track my thoughts whenever I felt distracted or doubtful. Reflecting on my emotions gave me clarity and helped me redirect my energy toward positive growth. Also, setting small personal goals and celebrating small wins reinforced my confidence, turning what once felt like setbacks into opportunities for learning. Engaging in creative activities like reading, writing, or even cooking became a sanctuary where I could focus on the present moment. This practice kept me centered and less susceptible to the "Three Deadly Ds"—distraction, discouragement, and doubt—that often disrupt peace of mind. Ultimately, loving your own company isn't just about being alone; it's about cultivating a healthy relationship with yourself. When you invest in self-compassion and recognize the common emotional battles we all face, you build resilience that helps you stay joyful and purposeful, regardless of external circumstances.

How I learned to love my own company
I used to be so afraid of being alone. I feel like I missed out on a lot of experiences because I was waiting for someone to do them with me. I felt like if I did them alone, they wouldn’t matter or I would be “lame” for not having anyone with me. I’m here to tell you that is absolutely false!
