Sahm sunday reset
You know that feeling when life throws you a curveball, and suddenly your whole routine goes out the window? That's exactly what happened to me recently. After feeling a bit 'out of commission,' getting back to a proper Sunday reset has been a game-changer. It’s more than just tidying up; it’s about reclaiming peace and setting the tone for the week ahead, not just physically but emotionally. While my original focus was a much-needed deep cleaning session, I've realized a true Sunday reset encompasses so much more. It's about tackling those daily non-negotiables and then layering on a bit extra to feel fully prepared. For me, the 'power hour' concept has been key. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by a massive to-do list, I break it down. Here’s how I’ve learned to make my power hour truly count, especially when time is limited: Prioritize Your Zones: I learned this the hard way! Instead of aimlessly cleaning, I now mentally (or physically, with a quick note) list the absolute must-do areas. For me, it's typically the Kitchen first – wiping down counters, a quick sweep, and loading the dishwasher. Then onto the Bathroom for a speedy wipe-down of surfaces and mirror. These high-traffic areas make the biggest visual impact for the least effort. Laundry Loop: I try to get at least one load of Laundry started and folded during my power hour. Even if it's just towels or kids' clothes, it feels like a win to get ahead. Bedroom Blitz: A quick tidy up in the Bedroom – making the bed, putting away stray items – can instantly make the space feel calmer. Focused Task: After those quick wins, I pick one additional deeper task if I have time. Maybe it's vacuuming the living room, or quickly organizing a messy drawer. The trick is to not overcommit. But a Sunday reset isn't just about sparkling surfaces. For us busy SAHMs, it's also about mental preparation. I've found that adding a few non-cleaning tasks makes a huge difference: Quick Meal Prep: Even if it’s just chopping veggies for Monday’s dinner or baking a batch of muffins for breakfasts, a little prep goes a long way in reducing weekday stress. I try to think about what will save me the most time during the busiest parts of the week. Week-Ahead Review: I take 10-15 minutes to glance at our family's schedule. Are there appointments? Playdates? What’s for dinner each night? Just knowing what’s coming helps me feel more in control and less rushed. Personal Recharge: This is crucial! After all the physical work, I make sure to carve out a small chunk of time for *myself*. Even if it's just sipping a cup of tea in quiet, reading a chapter of a book, or a short walk. This helps reset my own energy levels and makes me feel less depleted going into Monday. My journey back to a consistent routine has been slow, and honestly, it’s still a work in progress. Some Sundays, my "power hour" is more like a "power 30 minutes," and that’s okay! The goal isn't perfection, but progress and creating a sense of calm and order. Remember, every little bit helps, and giving yourself grace is part of the process. I hope these tips help you create your own fulfilling Sunday reset and get ready for a fantastic week!
