what photographing couples taught me about love ❤️✨
so i've been photographing couples for almost three years now (crazy!!!!) and honestly, i'm really grateful that the couples i've met trust me enough to document their stories 🥹🫶🏼 the more i shoot - the more it reveals how love can be understood and expressed in many ways.
for today's post, i thought i'd share a bit about huy and ngan, whom i had the privilege of meeting when i was away on a trip in da nang a few months back! during the session, they shared about love in a vietnamese context and it was refreshing to say the least (scroll through carousel to read more)
all that said , im so excited that yabd is slowly evolving into a brand that captures cinematic photographs inspired by real-life stories and lived experiences.

Through my experience capturing couples, I’ve learned that love transcends simple definitions; it’s deeply personal and culturally rich. One concept that stood out to me during a recent shoot in Da Nang is the Vietnamese idea of "duyên," which suggests that love is a destined connection beyond mere choice. This belief adds a magical element to relationships, emphasizing familiarity and serendipity. I found that understanding these cultural nuances not only enriches the photography experience but also helps couples appreciate their journey more fully. When you recognize the "why" behind a couple’s bond, such as shared traditions or meaningful beliefs, each captured moment gains profound significance. Moreover, photographing couples has taught me the importance of patience and acceptance, both in love and in life. These values resonate universally and remind me why I am passionate about telling heartfelt stories through my lens. For couples embarking on their own love story, embracing cultural discoveries while maintaining privacy and comfort can make the experience authentic and memorable.
