Day 1 of wrecking my Wreck This Journal
My boyfriends mom got me this for my birthday and I wanted to share my experience of doing it on here! Here’s my day 1 pages. I did crack the spine which is a bit hard to actually show, poke holes and colorful strips. I’ve wanted this book for so long and am already in love.

Starting my Wreck This Journal has been such a journey of creative liberation, and I wanted to share even more about the early stages and what I've learned! One of the first and most iconic tasks is to 'CRACK THE SPINE.' When I first read that, I wondered, what does it mean to crack the spine of a book? It basically means breaking the spine of the book so it lies flat, often by opening it forcefully. For a regular book, it's a cardinal sin, but for this journal, it's an invitation to let go of perfection! I found the best way to how to crack the spine of a book wreck this journal is to gently open it in sections, pressing down firmly, but sometimes a good, satisfying crack is just what's needed to get in the 'wrecking' mindset. It really helps the book lay flat for other activities too. After that satisfying first 'crack,' I moved onto tasks like 'POKE HOLES IN THIS PAGE USING A PENCIL.' This was surprisingly therapeutic! Instead of just randomly poking, I started thinking about patterns or even outlines. You can use different sized pencils or even other pointy objects (carefully, of course!) to create interesting textures. It's a great way to add dimension to your *wreck this journal inside pages*. Another favorite early task was to 'TEAR STRIPS OF COLOR. (THEN TRY SOME PLAID.)' I loved the freedom of tearing paper without worrying about straight lines. I even incorporated bits of old magazines and colorful candy wrappers to make it truly personal and vibrant. This definitely helps with the 'wreck this journal in color' aspect, encouraging you to bring in all sorts of hues and textures. For those looking for wreck this book pages ideas, don't be afraid to mix mediums – crayons, markers, paint, collage elements – anything goes! Many people ask about completed wreck this journal pages or wreck this journal before and after photos. While I'm just starting, I think the beauty of this journal is that there's no right or wrong way to complete a page. Each mark, tear, and spill tells a story. My advice for anyone starting out is to embrace the imperfection. Don't overthink it. If a task feels intimidating, like 'DOCUMENT TIME PASSING,' just go with your first instinct. For that one, I simply jotted down the date, '4.7.25,' as indicated in the prompt, but you could also draw a clock, list things you did that hour, or or even just let the page age naturally over time. This journal is less about artistic skill and more about letting go and exploring creativity. It's a fantastic way to destress and create something uniquely yours. I'm excited to see how my pages evolve and transform over time. If you're thinking of getting one, I highly recommend it – it’s an incredible creative outlet!

Coloring away anxiety on New Year's Eve? Now that’s my kind of celebration. If I had my guitar, it would’ve been perfect.
