Why no dizziness with the trial frame

5/29 Edited to

... Read moreWhen you first get new glasses, it’s common to experience some dizziness or discomfort. This happens because unlike trial frames, the lenses in your new glasses are positioned precisely according to your pupillary distance, pupil height, and axis measurements. The lenses also sit much closer to your eyes, creating a stronger optical effect that your brain needs time to adapt to. From my experience, during the first week of wearing new glasses, mild dizziness, slight eye strain, or a sensation that objects are warped or uneven is completely normal. The frame shape and angle also differ from trial frames, adding a new visual dynamic your eyes are not yet used to. However, if you notice a feeling of being unsteady or difficulty walking, especially when going down stairs, it’s important to return to the optician for a recheck. Adjustment periods usually range from one to seven days. During this time, it helps to wear the glasses during most daytime activities to encourage faster adaptation. If issues persist beyond this period, reassessment of the lens prescription or frame fitting may be necessary. Trial frames can sometimes feel more comfortable initially because they don’t sit as close to your eyes and have less precise alignment, resulting in a weaker optical effect. This limits dizziness but also doesn’t provide the clarity of properly fitted lenses. Ultimately, the dizziness with new glasses is a sign that the lenses are accurate and your vision is being corrected effectively. In summary, understanding the difference between trial frames and final glasses can help ease the transition and reduce frustration. Give your eyes some time to adjust, and if the dizziness doesn’t improve, consult your eye care professional for further support.
