Ways to Trust God When Nothing Is Working Out
When life doesn’t make sense, God is still in control.
There are seasons where everything feels like it’s falling apart. Doors close, prayers seem unanswered, and nothing is going the way you planned. It’s in these moments that your faith is tested the most. But just because things aren’t working out the way you expected doesn’t mean God isn’t working. He sees what you can’t see, and He’s doing what you don’t understand yet.
🙏 1. Choose Trust Over Understanding
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.” — Isaiah 55:8
Trust doesn’t require you to understand everything—it requires you to believe that God does. You won’t always know why things are happening the way they are, but you can know who is in control. God’s perspective is higher, His plan is greater, and His timing is perfect—even when it doesn’t feel like it.
⏳ 2. Remember That God Is Never Late
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.” — 2 Peter 3:9
It might feel like God is taking too long, but He is never behind schedule. What feels like delay to you is often preparation in God’s plan. He’s aligning things, shaping you, and working behind the scenes. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not going to.
🧠 3. Guard Your Mind Against Doubt
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” — Isaiah 26:3
When nothing is working out, your mind can quickly spiral into fear, doubt, and frustration. But what you focus on matters. If you focus on your problems, your anxiety will grow. If you focus on God, your faith will grow. Peace comes when you fix your mind on Him, not your situation.
🚶♂️ 4. Stay Faithful in the Waiting
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
It’s easy to give up when you’re not seeing results. But faith isn’t proven when things are easy—it’s proven when you keep going anyway. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep showing up. Your breakthrough often comes right after the moment you feel like quitting.
🔥 5. Believe That God Is Working It for Good
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” — Romans 8:28
Even this season—the confusing, frustrating, painful one—is not wasted. God is using it. He’s building your faith, strengthening your character, and preparing you for what’s next. You may not see it now, but one day you will look back and realize that God was working the whole time.

2 Peter 3:9 — “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.”
Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”

Let's Pray & Believe 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Lord, I don’t always understand what You’re doing, but I choose to trust You anyway. Help me to lean on You instead of my own understanding. Strengthen my faith in this season and give me peace when everything feels uncertain. Remind me that You are working, even when I can’t see it. Teach me to stay faithful and trust Your timing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
