skin care tips for hormonal/stubborn acne🤍

these are my skin care tips after struggling with every kind of acne you can think of :)

🫧sometimes, less is more!!

if you’ve tried every serum on the market like me and nothing seems to be working, try quitting those for a while! i saw the most progress after ditching all of those vitamin filled serums, which seemed to be making me break out even more. sometimes we don’t know what our skin needs, so trying all that stuff might just be making your skin worse. just try it, trust me.

🫧makeup removing face wash

this face wash is my holy grail, considering i wear makeup almost daily. i’ve found that makeup melting balms break me out because of all the oil, and nothing else makes all of my makeup come off and feel clean at the end like this one. it’s not oily but still gives me moisture and removes my makeup easier and better than any makeup remover i’ve tried before. AND it’s my main preference over any other wash even when i’m not wearing any makeup.

🫧pimple patches only!!

one of my main struggles with my acne is that i loveee to pick at those white ones, especially if they’re deep and painful. that typically makes my acne spread + it makes my pimples look much worse for atleast a week after. these patches save my life on a daily. panoxyl patches are the best ones i’ve used.

🫧in person/ online dermatologist

of course a dermatologist is going to be your best option, but getting an appointment takes months sometimes and my skin only gets worse by then. they will prescribe you what you need, but since i already know what works best for me (spironolactone, 100mg oral) starting with an online derm took almost no time, it’s cheap, and so much easier than scheduling an appointment. look into apostrophe and see what they could prescribe you.

🫧use anything but a towel to dry your face

i just found out recently that this saves your skin. i would break out even if i used clean towels to dry my face, and i figure it’s the laundry detergent bothering it. you don’t need to use those expensive dry towels that are basically just tissues either. just use toilet paper or paper towels. they’re always clean and scent free.

🫧HIGH FREQUENCY WAND

when i tell you this is like magic in a wand. this basically zaps my pimples away. they will always be less inflamed and less red the next day after i use this. i use it every single night and have noticed such a big difference in my skin. you do NOT need an expensive one, they are all the same. they use these for facials in salons but are completely safe to use on your own. PLEASE invest in one you will not regret it.

🫧vaseline to slug

sometimes i break out just because my face is dry. slugging gave me glass skin and makes my face super hydrated without leaving it oily. just mix an equal amount of this into your moisturizer and use it that way. (you could use aquaphor but i found it’s too heavy for my skin and makes it feel more clogged in the morning than vaseline does. it’s the way to go.)

if you have any questions just comment, id love to answer

... Read moreHormonal acne can be particularly challenging to manage, but understanding your skin's needs can make a significant difference. First, consider simplifying your routine; using fewer products may help reduce irritation. A key component is selecting the right cleanser; dermatologists often recommend non-comedogenic options that effectively remove makeup without excessive oils. In addition, incorporating pimple patches can be transformative. These patches not only help prevent touching and picking at blemishes, but they also promote faster healing. Look for patches that contain active ingredients like salicylic acid to enhance their effectiveness. For those struggling with persistent acne, consulting with a dermatologist—either in-person or online—can provide personalized solutions such as prescription medications like spironolactone, known for its hormonal acne-fighting properties. Furthermore, consider adopting advanced treatments like high-frequency devices; these can help reduce inflammation and improve skin texture over time. Lastly, protect your skin barrier by considering alternatives to traditional towels for drying your face. Using clean paper towels can minimize the risk of irritation from laundry detergents. With the right approach and consistency, achieving clearer skin is possible!
