How to save money in NYC💰

Yes NYC is expensive, but it doesn’t have to be!

🌇 Don’t pay $40+ to go up some building for views. Yes, I’m sure it’s cool, but there are so many other cool (and free) spots! Pier 57 is a free rooftop pier with a food hall below it. Dumbo has incredible skyline & Brooklyn Bridge views (last clip). Domino Park in Williamsburg is also another great spot for the skyline

🚇 Think someone is gonna hurt you on a train? Chances are realllll slim. NYC has a huge population and people like to focus on the negatives so it makes it seem worse than it is. Just stay away from the edge and keep to yourself and you’ll be fine. PLUS! It’s often way quicker than taking a car because of traffic and apple/google maps tell you exactly where you need to go to make life easy

🏙️ Times Square hotels are going to be expensive and impossible to sleep in since it’s so loud. Look into other neighborhoods and just check that there’s easy access to a subway. If you must stay near Times Square, then I recommend looking into hotels around Hell’s Kitchen. My dad stayed at an affordable one in that neighborhood

🗽A pretty common one, but unless you want to visit the island itself, don’t pay to visit the Statue of Liberty. Just take the free Staten Island Ferry and run right over to get on the ferry back. It’s about 30 min each way and I doubt you’d want to be stuck on the island waiting for the next ferry. There’s not much to do

New York
2024/1/23 Edited to

... Read moreNew York City can be an expensive destination, but there are numerous ways to enjoy it without overspending. One of the most efficient ways to navigate the city is by using public transportation. The subway system is extensive and offers a reliable $2.90 fare, making it both affordable and often faster than driving through traffic. For breathtaking views, skip costly observation decks and opt for free alternatives like the Brooklyn Bridge Walk or the incredible skyline views at Domino Park. If you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere, Pier 57 offers a free rooftop with stunning scenery and a food hall to satisfy your cravings. When it comes to accommodations, avoid the overpriced hotels in Times Square. Instead, explore the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, which has more affordable options with easy subway access. This area not only has a more local vibe but also keeps you close to major attractions. Lastly, consider free activities such as riding the Staten Island Ferry to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. This picturesque journey takes about 30 minutes each way, providing a quick and cost-effective way to enjoy the sights without being caught up in the tourist traps. By implementing these strategies, you can experience all that NYC has to offer without straining your wallet.
