Wedding Advice Story 🫶

I got married in December of 2023 so it’s still very recent! 🩵

Let me tell you about the craziness in my wedding ….

I chose to use suggestions from the venue for my photographer and DJ. This was a couple who had just gotten married. The wife was the photographer and the husband was the DJ. We had everything set up. It was all ready and perfect … or so I thought. 🤨

In November, I got an email stating that they were no longer going to be able to come to our wedding because they were expecting a child and had known about it since March. When I tell you I was LIVID! My wedding was coming up and I had to search and scavenge the earth for a new photographer and Dj!

Luckily my wedding coordinator at the venue was able to help me …. But here’s the part I don’t get still.

When they informed me they were unable to attend, they sent my deposit to another DJ without my consent. ☠️ This DJ then told me he charges double what they charged. It was a giant mess. And I’ll be real honest …. He wasn’t the best DJ but we still had a good time.

So I highly suggest to really think about who you’re using for vendors so you don’t end up scrambling like I did and trying to fix an unnecessary mess! Luckily my coworker was a photographer as a side hustle and was able to do my photos. I love how they came out!

I do wish everything had been more cohesive in the long run but I’m still glad we were able to solve things so quickly.

... Read morePlanning a wedding can be a daunting experience, filled with unexpected challenges. Based on my recent marriage in December 2023, I want to share crucial tips that can help future brides and grooms navigate vendor selections. One lesson I learned is the importance of researching vendors thoroughly. When hiring photographers and DJs, ensure they have reliable references and a clear understanding of your wedding vision. For those considering venue-recommended vendors, it’s essential to confirm their availability and willingness to fulfill your contract terms, especially as personal circumstances can change unexpectedly, as I encountered when my chosen vendors canceled just weeks before the event. Communication plays a key role throughout the planning process. Establish a clear line of dialogue with your vendors to negotiate terms effectively and avoid unforeseen costs, like the additional fees I faced when my deposit was transferred without prior consent. Involving friends and family can also be beneficial. Utilizing a co-worker who was a photographer for my wedding helped save the day when I was in a bind. Ultimately, while unexpected issues may arise, focusing on solutions rather than problems can lead to a memorable celebration. Your wedding day is about loved ones and joyful moments—learn from my experience to keep it that way!
