God said,“Treat your body like a temple” not trash
I might have overdone it with the peanut butter in my oatmeal, but oh well. High protein right 🤣 anyhow GIRLLL did you know that God wants you to like yourself? He calls us to take care of ourselves, not just physically but spiritually too. In Mark 6:31, Jesus says, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
🌸 Your quiet time practice is SELF-CARE. Spiritual self-care is often overlooked, yet it's so crucial for our overall well-being. Today, I'm reminded of the importance of resting in His presence and taking it easy.

... Read moreOkay, so we often hear the phrase 'treat your body like a temple,' but what does that really look like in our crazy, busy lives as Christian women? For me, truly understanding this concept clicked when I grasped 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, which reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. It’s not just about avoiding 'bad' stuff, but actively honoring God with every part of us – mind, body, and spirit!
The original post touched on quiet time, and seriously, girl, that's foundational! My quiet time often starts with a simple prayer, asking God to guide my thoughts and heart. Then, I dive into my Bible. Sometimes it’s a focused study on a specific topic, other days it’s just reading a chapter and letting His words wash over me. I've found that even just 15-20 minutes of sitting in His presence, maybe with a devotional or some worship music, completely shifts my perspective for the day. It’s like spiritual fuel that sets me on the right path! And you know, Proverbs 31:26, 'When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instructions,' really resonates with me. It reminds me that our spiritual health impacts how we interact with the world too – a peaceful heart often reflects kindness in our words and actions.
Then there’s the physical side! I used to think 'temple' meant I had to be absolutely perfect, but it's more about stewardship and intentionality. Remember that morning picture? Making a healthy breakfast with oatmeal, fresh fruit like bananas and sliced strawberries, maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon, or some scrambled eggs loaded with vegetables? That’s treating your body with respect! It's not about being on a strict diet, but about fueling ourselves with intention. When I nourish my body with good food, I notice my mind is clearer for prayer and my energy levels for serving others are so much better. It's truly a holistic approach that allows us to live out our faith with vitality.
Taking care of our physical selves also means getting enough rest, just like Jesus modeled in Mark 6:31, when he invited his disciples to 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.' And for me, finding inspiration from authors like Joyce Meyer through books such as 'The Pathway to Success' has really helped me connect the dots between spiritual growth and taking care of my overall well-being. It’s all interconnected, girl!
So, if you’re asking yourself, ‘How do I actually do this?’ start small. Maybe it’s dedicating 10 minutes to prayer before your day begins, or consciously making one healthy meal choice, perhaps trying a new healthy breakfast recipe from the ingredients mentioned. Each step is an act of worship, an acknowledgment that our bodies are precious gifts. Let’s encourage each other to embrace this beautiful calling to live holistically for Him!
