From my own experience, managing hunger and cravings often means focusing on nutrient-dense foods that keep you full longer, such as proteins and fiber-rich vegetables. For example, meals like your deconstructed taco salad with fried corn tortillas are great because they offer a balance of carbs, fats, and veggies. One trick I've found helpful is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Sometimes when we feel peckish, it's actually dehydration in disguise. Also, sipping on caffeinated drinks like your shaken espresso dupe can help slightly suppress appetite, but be mindful not to rely on it excessively. For sweet cravings, opting for healthier alternatives like Yasso bars or small fruit portions, as you did, can satisfy taste buds without derailing your goals. Planning smaller, frequent meals or snacks throughout the day could also prevent intense hunger bouts that lead to overeating. Additionally, getting enough steps and physical activity, such as your 8k steps and 5k runs, supports metabolism and mood, which improves overall eating habits. Remember, occasional slips are normal and part of the journey. The key is to forgive yourself, learn what triggers your cravings—like your dad’s Cinnabon—and strategize better for next time. Incorporating calming activities such as walking your puppy or light stretching might also distract from emotional or boredom eating. Lastly, involving your support system to share your goals and challenges can make a huge difference. Keep experimenting with different hacks and listen to your body, and over time, balancing hunger and staying within your deficit will feel more manageable.
