Homemade Hair Growth Shampoo 🌿✨
This is a simple herbal infused shampoo made to support scalp health, strengthen strands, and encourage healthy hair growth over time. You can use any shampoo as your base, but it’s best to choose one that is clear, sulfate-free, and gentle. Try to avoid shampoos with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), as these harsh detergents can dry the scalp, strip natural oils, and sometimes irritate sensitive skin.
I used what I currently had and that’s perfectly okay. Use what works for you and upgrade later if needed.
Benefits of Each Ingredient 🌱
Rosemary
One of the most popular herbs for hair growth. Rosemary may help improve circulation to the scalp, stimulate follicles, reduce shedding, and support thicker looking hair over time. It’s especially loved for edges and thinning areas.
Red Onion
Rich in sulfur, which supports keratin production (the protein hair is made of). Onion can help strengthen roots, reduce breakage, and encourage healthier growth. It’s known as a traditional remedy for thinning hair.
Garlic
Contains sulfur, selenium, and antioxidants. Garlic may help nourish the scalp, strengthen weak strands, and support growth while helping keep the scalp cleaner.
Ginger
Known to stimulate circulation and warm the scalp. Ginger can help refresh the scalp environment and may reduce buildup while promoting healthier follicles.
How to Prepare 🫙
Add your chopped ingredients into the shampoo bottle or jar with your shampoo base. Shake well and store it in a cool cabinet away from sunlight for 14 days so the ingredients can slowly infuse into the shampoo. Shake gently every few days.
How to Use 🚿
Use 1–2 times a week. Massage into the scalp for 3–5 minutes before rinsing. Let it sit a few extra minutes if tolerated.
If the smell feels too strong, once a week is perfectly fine. Consistency matters more than overusing it.
Extra Tips for Best Results ✨
* Always focus shampoo on the scalp, not the ends.
* Follow with conditioner on mid-lengths and ends.
* Be patient healthy hair growth takes time. Most people notice changes with consistent use over 8–12 weeks.
* Do a patch test first if you have a sensitive scalp.
* If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Gentle Reminder 🦋
This won’t magically grow hair overnight, but it can create a healthier scalp environment which is where every hair growth journey begins. Healthy scalp, healthy roots, healthier hair.
