Using a light ​hand weight during your strength training workouts increases your muscular endurance whereas the heavier alternative builds muscular strength, which increases the size of your muscles.

So grab those light weights and let’s get to it!

I’m using 3 lbs here, I suggest using anywhere between 1 and three lb weights for this workout.

... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you have asked about my arm routine, and I'm so excited to share more about how I achieve those lean, sculpted "dancer arms" without bulking up. The original post mentioned light weights and high reps, which is absolutely the secret sauce, but let's dive a little deeper into making this workout truly effective and part of your routine! Before we jump into the main moves, remember to always start with a quick warm-up. A few minutes of arm circles (forward and backward), shoulder rolls, and gentle arm swings will get your muscles ready and prevent any strain. Trust me, it makes a difference! Now, for the core of the workout – these are the exercises that truly target those arm muscles for that long, elegant look. You'll be using those 1-3 lb weights, focusing on controlled movements. First up, let's talk about the Arm Cross Punch. This one is fantastic for your shoulders and the front of your arms. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and hold a light weight in each hand. Bring your arms up so your elbows are bent at 90 degrees, weights near your shoulders. Now, punch one arm across your body towards the opposite side, rotating your torso slightly. Bring it back to the start and repeat on the other side. Imagine you're gracefully punching through water – it's all about control, not speed! Perform this for a full minute. Next, we have the Double Press. This move targets your shoulders and upper back, helping to create that defined line. Start in a similar standing position, weights at your shoulders, palms facing forward. Press both weights straight up above your head, extending your arms fully but without locking your elbows. Slowly lower them back down to your shoulders. Focus on squeezing your shoulder blades slightly at the top, and maintain a steady, smooth pace for one minute. It might feel light, but after a minute, you'll definitely feel the burn! And a personal favorite for toning the back of the arms (hello, goodbye bingo wings!) is the Tricep Extension. You can do this standing or seated. Hold one light weight with both hands, extending it straight up above your head. Keeping your elbows close to your ears, slowly lower the weight behind your head by bending your elbows. Feel that stretch in your triceps! Then, extend your arms back up to the starting position. Make sure your elbows stay pointing forward and don't flare out. Do this for one minute, focusing on that controlled movement. Remember, the goal is muscular endurance and definition, not size. So, keeping that 1-minute per exercise, repeating the entire circuit 3 times, is absolutely perfect. You'll be amazed at how quickly your arms start to feel stronger and look more toned. Once you’ve completed your rounds, don't skip the cool-down! Gentle stretches like holding one arm across your chest, tricep stretches (reaching one hand behind your head and gently pushing the elbow down with the other hand), and shoulder stretches will help lengthen your muscles and aid recovery. To really maximize your results for those beautiful #dancerarms, consistency is key. Try to fit this workout in 3-4 times a week. Also, pay attention to your form – it's always better to do fewer reps with perfect form than many with sloppy movements. And don't forget to fuel your body with nourishing foods and stay hydrated! I've personally found that combining this routine with a balanced diet really helps in achieving that lean physique. You've got this – let's get those arms sculpted and ready for anything!
