homeschooling tips + products 🤍

Homeschooling a toddler is about exploration and bonding, so it’s important to keep things light and follow their pace. We’ve been homeschooling for the last year and together we’ve learned a lot about what works and doesn’t work for us.

Here’s some advice for homeschooling a toddler, focusing on creating a nurturing, engaging environment that fosters early learning and curiosity. 👇🏻

✏️ Focus on Play-Based Learning

Toddlers learn best through play! Choose activities that feel fun and natural, like building with blocks, sorting shapes, or playing with water. These activities teach fine motor skills, colors, counting, and problem-solving.

✏️ Keep It Short & Flexible

Toddlers have short attention spans, so keep activities brief—think 10–15 minutes max. Follow their cues and switch up activities based on their interest and energy levels.

✏️ Read Together Daily

Reading to your toddler is one of the best ways to introduce language and new ideas. Choose books with bright pictures, simple words, or interactive features, and don’t worry about reading cover-to-cover; let them lead.

✏️ Explore Hands-On Learning

Let your child learn through touch and movement. Sensory bins, finger painting, and using clay or play dough are great for exploring textures and developing motor skills.

✏️ Create a Simple Routine

A flexible routine helps toddlers know what to expect. Set aside a consistent time each day for learning activities, even if it’s just 20–30 minutes. This routine builds familiarity and a sense of security.

✏️ Focus on Basic Skills

Introduce basic skills like counting, recognizing colors, sorting shapes, and naming objects. Activities like stacking blocks, singing the alphabet, and naming animals make early learning natural.

✏️ Involve Nature and Outdoor Time

Toddlers love exploring! Spend time outside and point out plants, bugs, or rocks to encourage curiosity. Nature walks help with physical coordination, observation, and vocabulary building.

✏️ Follow Their Interests

Use their interests to create fun learning experiences. If they love animals, look for books about animals or create animal-themed art activities.

✏️ Build Social Skills through Play

Socializing is key for toddlers. Arrange playdates or meetups with other kids to help them learn sharing, empathy, and communication.

✏️ Celebrate Small Wins

Toddlers thrive on encouragement! Celebrate their little achievements with claps, hugs, or positive words to build confidence and a love for learning.

... Read moreHomeschooling is an enriching journey for both parents and toddlers, fostering a love for learning through interactive and engaging methods. Incorporating products like flashcards, sensory bins, and educational workbooks can enhance the homeschooling experience. For hands-on learning, consider utilizing counting games with dinosaurs and interactive sticker books that make learning enjoyable. Books tailored to toddlers, featuring vibrant illustrations, can introduce new vocabulary and concepts in a fun way. Outdoor explorations provide opportunities for discovery and help develop observational skills as children learn about their environment. Tailoring activities to your child's interests, whether it be animals or nature, can create personalized learning experiences that resonate with them. Don’t forget the importance of social interactions; playdates can cultivate social skills critical for their development. Recognizing and celebrating small milestones nurtures self-esteem and motivation, making the learning process an enjoyable adventure. Engaging with your child in various educational activities not only promotes learning but also strengthens your bond while paving the way for curiosity and creativity.
