Started off this 2026 with Jahquel J. And fell in love with her style of writing. I pretty much have her whole catalog on my TBR. These are the series I’ve read of hers so far. I paused on Quasim’s books and have only read the first one because to me if felt like it was to much repetition with him and his feelings. The back and forth was irritating me lol. But I will be doubling back and finishing his 2 other books. Goon is next up !
Starting the year with a fresh reading list is always exciting, and Jahquel J.'s works have truly been a highlight for me. Her storytelling brings a unique blend of emotion and depth that keeps me hooked from one book to the next. Having her entire collection on my TBR means I’m in for a year full of engaging narratives and richly developed characters. However, not every reading experience is smooth sailing. With Quasim's series, I hit a bit of a snag due to repetitive themes and an emotional back-and-forth that started to feel somewhat tedious. That said, I’m committed to finishing the series because sometimes, perseverance reveals deeper layers and unexpected plot twists that make the journey worthwhile. I also appreciate the value of pacing in reading different authors—it helps maintain my enthusiasm without burnout. For instance, after pausing Quasim, I switched gears to reading 'Goon,' which brings its own distinct flavor and keeps my reading list diverse. For fellow readers planning their 2026 reading goals, I recommend aligning your choices to your current mood and interests, mixing genres or authors to maintain fresh excitement. Also, don’t shy away from taking breaks on books that don’t immediately resonate; you can always return with a new perspective. Overall, this blend of strategic reading and open-mindedness enriches my experience, making each book a unique adventure. I look forward to sharing updates as I progress through these series and discovering new favorites along the way.
