Alex Star DESTROYS fearmongering with facts and logic!!! #fyp #alexstar #fypシ #tiktok #videoessay
Having followed the recent changes to TikTok's US operations closely, I can share some personal observations that might help ease some common worries. When Oracle took over TikTok's US servers, many users, including myself, noticed a significant disruption in content flow over a couple of days. Videos stopped uploading properly, view counts dropped dramatically, and the For You Page seemed stuck showing repetitive content. This was simply because the US servers were being separated from the original Chinese servers, which inevitably caused temporary disconnection and downtime. This server switch essentially meant we were unplugged from one network and plugged into another, which, while necessary for compliance with US regulatory requirements, led to short-term user experience issues. From what I saw on creator pages I follow—political and non-political alike—this was a universal problem, not targeted censorship. The fear of 'shadow banning' was understandable but in reality, the pause affected everyone’s visibility equally. Regarding the updated terms of service, which caused a stir because of potential data privacy and surveillance concerns, I compared them with previous versions available through archives. It turns out most clauses about sensitive data collection already existed but have been rewritten to be more explicit. The notable addition appears to be the explicit mention of collecting precise location data, though that usually can be controlled through device permissions. In everyday use, it’s important to remember that almost all social media apps collect various personal data—often more than users realize—and phones themselves are trackers with cameras and microphones active. If government surveillance was a real worry, the phone itself would be a bigger privacy risk. As things stabilize, the For You Page is getting back to normal with fresh content and political videos still reaching wide audiences. Creator analytics and monetization are reportedly functioning again as well. So while the technical and legal shake-up has had a tangible impact, it doesn’t spell TikTok’s end or major censorship just yet. For creators and viewers alike, patience while the US server transition completes is key. Meanwhile, checking app permissions and staying informed about terms of service updates is always advisable. TikTok continues to be a vibrant platform—this disruption is just a challenging but temporary growing pain for adapting to new ownership and regulatory landscapes.
