In 2016, as I just turned 20 years old — a baby, a rookie, and stepping into the animal welfare world with more heart than experience. I was in vet tech school, learning, struggling, growing, and trying to figure out where I belonged. I didn’t know it then, but that season of my life was quietly shaping everything that would come next.
When I was hired as an Animal Control Officer while still in school, my path became clear. It wasn’t easy. It was emotional, exhausting, heartbreaking, and incredibly rewarding all at once. That decision changed my life.
Ten years later, I look back in awe. I’ve saved thousands of animals. I’ve witnessed suffering and healing, loss and second chances. I’ve grown tougher, wiser, and more compassionate. This work has changed me in ways I never expected — it taught me resilience, humility, and purpose.
I’ve lived a lot in the last decade. I’ve learned more than any classroom could ever teach me. And today, I stand proud — not just of where I am, but of who I’ve become and every life I’ve had the honor of helping along the way.
