Hey everyone, I really need to share my recent MEPS experience and get some advice. It's been a rollercoaster, and honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost right now. I went through the military entrance processing station, hoping to join the U.S. Air Force, and while some parts went smoothly, others... well, not so much. My journey started like many of yours, preparing for the ASVAB. I studied hard, felt reasonably confident, but when the results came back, I was crushed. I failed the ASVAB. It felt like a punch to the gut, especially since I had my heart set on serving. This unexpected hurdle has really made me re-evaluate everything, and I’m wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what steps you took next. Did you retest? How did you prepare differently? Beyond the ASVAB, the medical evaluations at MEPS were quite an experience. They really go through everything. I had the standard blood exam, vision, hearing (they even checked for cerumen, which I hadn’t thought about!), and a breath interview. Everything seemed okay on the medical front initially, but then some past medical history came up. Now, I'm facing the prospect of needing medical waivers. This is where I'm completely in the dark. I've heard stories about medical waivers taking a long time or being difficult to obtain, especially for certain conditions. If you've successfully navigated the medical waiver process for the Air Force or any other branch, I would be so grateful for any insights or tips you could share. What kind of documentation did you need? How long did it take? Were there any common pitfalls to avoid? I'm specifically looking for advice on medical waivers for the U.S. Air Force in 2025 if anyone has recent experience. My dream of joining the military, specifically the Air Force, is still very much alive, but this MEPS experience, with the ASVAB failure and now potential medical waivers, has definitely tested my resolve. I'm trying to stay positive and proactive, but a little guidance from those who have been there would mean the world.
