✨How I’m learning to blend with my man’s family✨
Last year was my first time spending Christmas away from my own family and with my man’s family. We stayed in Arizona for a week, and I was actually nervous. It’s one thing to hang out with people for a few hours, but days together feels so different.
What surprised me is that it wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I thought. I had so much fun.
Now there’s talk of a bigger family vacation, and I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t make me nervous. I know firsthand how extended family trips can sometimes turn into conflict. In fact, a family vacation is the reason my mom doesn’t talk to me or my sisters anymore. 😅
Even at my wedding I was hearing little snarky comments here and there and I was already getting pre stressed out for a future family event that hasn’t even happened yet.
The thing is blending families takes alot of patience, boundaries, and grace. You don’t have to force closeness overnight, and it’s okay to take breaks from people.
