What were your first signs of PPD?

I’m wondering what signs to look out for if I’m starting to feel down. What was a sign that you had PPD? How did you treat it? I’m worried but also know that getting a little bit down is normal too.

... Read morePostpartum depression (PPD) is a condition that affects many new mothers, but recognizing its early signs can be challenging, especially since feeling a bit down after childbirth is quite common. Common early signs of PPD include persistent sadness, excessive crying, feeling overwhelmed, irritability, changes in appetite, difficulty bonding with your baby, and withdrawal from friends and family. Unlike typical baby blues, which usually resolve within two weeks, PPD symptoms last longer and affect daily functioning. If you notice these signs lasting beyond the initial postpartum period or increasing in intensity, it’s important to seek professional support. Treatment options for PPD range from counseling and support groups to medication if necessary. Many mothers find that talking openly about their feelings with trusted friends, family members, or health professionals helps alleviate some of the burden. In addition to professional treatment, self-care practices such as getting adequate rest, maintaining a healthy diet, light exercise, and accepting emotional support can significantly improve well-being. Remember, recognizing the early signs, like mood swings or withdrawal, is a critical step towards recovery. If you’re worried about distinguishing PPD from normal mood changes, keep a journal of your feelings and note any changes in behavior or mood. Sharing this information with your healthcare provider can assist in accurate diagnosis and tailor your treatment. Most importantly, know that you are not alone and help is available to support you through this challenging time.

I don’t know if it was post PPD but I had an emergency c-section. I cried every day for hours about my hanging belly. I’m on medication now but I don’t think it has made me feel any difference. I’m having a second and getting a tummy tuck as soon as possible
