I never could have imagined what the rest of this week would bring (found in my drafts) #pregnancyjourney #birthstory #nicubaby #newmom #hairtransformation
Having a baby born prematurely at 29 weeks brings a whirlwind of emotions and challenges that I hadn’t fully anticipated. From the moment my son Henry Nicholas arrived early, our days were filled with hospital visits and learning the ins and outs of the NICU. It was overwhelming but also incredibly educational. Seeing him hooked to machines while tiny and fragile made me realize just how strong these little fighters are. During those weeks, I also went through a personal hair transformation, which might sound unrelated but was a meaningful coping mechanism for me. Changing my hair helped me regain a little sense of control and brought some normalcy amid the uncertainty. For any new moms out there facing unexpected early deliveries, I’d say it’s crucial to find small ways to care for yourself — whether it’s a hairstyle change, meditation, or just taking short walks. Every day brought small victories as Henry grew stronger and we adapted to the NICU routine. The support from nurses and other new parents in similar situations was invaluable. Though the experience was stressful, it taught me resilience and gave me an even deeper appreciation for the miracle of birth and new life. Today, Henry is thriving and that journey has made me appreciate each milestone even more deeply.
