college gurl guide: updated a.m. skincare routine

hi everyone !!

i’ve been super into my new skincare routine and i felt like i had to share an update to one of my first posts ever l o l. i had struggled with acne in 2021 after being placed on a new bc pill (literally fml got off it immediately) and then ran to the dermatologist who didn’t listen and just gave me pills and creams. none of which worked and the pills literally made me sick …

so i did research, talked to aestheticians and went back to the basics (+ changed my diet a bit) to rebuild my skin barrier + clear my acne.

i def still get breakouts here and there and especially before my period , but im so glad i didn’t just get on acutane like they suggested and really found something that worked for me. i ofc got off the pill and haven’t taken birth control since , which is def another factor.

ofc everyone’s skin is different but i just wanted to share some products i like , and will def be making a nighttime version which includes way more products + steps. i just dont rlly like to put a ton of serums and such on during the day … anywho bye 😊🧖‍♀️

In this updated guide, I share insights from my personal journey battling acne. After trying various medications and creams, I realized the importance of a tailored skincare routine. Incorporating gentle, effective products was paramount to my success. I leaned into trusted brands like La Roche-Posay and affordable yet quality options, ensuring my regimen is both accessible and effective. Additionally, talking to professionals like aestheticians helped me identify key ingredients to look for, such as salicylic acid and glycerin, which promote clear skin. Diet, too, plays a crucial role—reducing sugars and processed foods helped minimize my breakouts. Hydration and maintaining a consistent routine have transformed my skin health. It's essential to recognize that every person's skin is unique. Finding what works for you can take time, but it is worth the effort to establish a reliable routine. Don't forget to monitor how your skin reacts to new products and make adjustments as needed for optimal results.
