✨May Reads📚
May was a productive month. I think our Book Club Book of the Month really solidified for me that I am definitely not a fantasy girlie … and that’s ok 🤭
Memoir that I got to read this month is definitely a must read - such an important book that I highly recommend 👏🏽
These are my May Reads 📚
1. The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown - While closing the bookstore that she works at, Cassie discovers that one of her regular customers, an old man named Mr. Webber has passed away while sitting in the store. After paramedics remove his body, she discovers a book he left behind inscribed with a message: "This is the Book of Doors. Hold it in your hand, and any door is every door... This book is for you, a gift in thanks for your kindness" Soon after, Cassie discovers the book's magical power and uses it to travel wherever she wants, whenever she wants. But when it comes to magic, there is good & evil and Cassie soon finds herself facing danger because of book hunters who want the Book of Doors for themselves.
While this was a fun book overall, for me personally fantasy is not my cup of tea ....tbh only finished it cuz it was for Book Club

2. The Eyes of Gaza by Plestia Alaqad - After reading the Diary of Anne Frank, I’d never thought I’d ever read another person’s diary depicting their story about what it’s like to live thru another genocide, let alone in modern day… and yet, here we are. This is such an important book that I would highly recommend to anyone who cares or wants to care to educate themselves on this conflict. Such a harrowing story of survival and yet Plestia is able to express humor, optimism & light heartedness in a world where all of that is taken from her. It truly speaks to the kind of person she is and the beautiful tribute this book is to her homeland.

3. The Five People You Meet in Heave by Mitch Albom - When Eddie, an elderly maintenance worker at a theme park is tragically killed when a ride malfunctions. He soon finds himself in heaven where he will meet five people who will explain the meaning of life and how they’re connected. Thru these encounters, he will learn the importance of love, loss & how no action is too small and come to terms with the regrets he has and learn the true meaning of his life.
