Being ugly. . .

I sometimes feel as though I am the most unattractive woman.

I walk in confidence and assurance but sometimes I receive messages that read

“Gluttony is a sin” “hit the gym” “fat***”

I can’t lie it stings I sometimes feel so unlovable and so unwanted like no man will ever truly want to know me or love me because of my size or my “pig nose” and that I will only ever be a lonely call to they think “she’s ugly and must be desperate for attention I am alone let’s hookup” it makes me very said but it’s so true. Take this as a reminder to use your words wisely don’t comment on someone’s looks especially when you don’t know them and or they don’t ask. In a world full of noise sometimes it’s hard to hear the words of The Father saying you are fearfully and wonderfully made. I am trying to remember that.

... Read moreReading about your feelings of being unattractive and dealing with harsh comments really resonated with me. I've been there, feeling the sting of labels like 'being fat' or 'being ugly,' and it's a constant battle to remind yourself of your inherent worth when the world, or even just anonymous online trolls, tries to tear you down. The images showing 'BEING FAT...' and 'BEING UGLY...' with a sad expression perfectly capture that internal struggle, and the feeling of 'IT'S NOT LIKE I DON'T TRY' echoes so many of my own thoughts when facing judgment. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you’re not doing enough, especially when you're making sincere efforts to feel good, yet still face negativity. For years, I struggled with weight control and tried countless diets, only to feel demoralized when the results weren't what I or others expected. What truly started to shift things for me wasn't just about physical appearance, but about a deeper internal change – a journey towards building self-confidence when feeling unattractive. I started focusing on what my body *can do*, rather than just what it *looks like*. Taking walks, enjoying nature, or simply moving in a way that feels good, helped me appreciate my body for its strength and resilience, not just its form. It's about finding confidence despite body size, and realizing that your 'pretty features' extend far beyond the superficial. Dealing with hateful comments like 'People are so hateful' can feel debilitating. The truth is, often, these words reflect more about the person saying them than about you. It's a tough lesson, but learning to build a protective shield has been crucial in how to deal with being an ugly woman or feeling like an ugly female. For me, that meant aggressively re-evaluating my social media feeds. Unfollowing accounts that promoted unrealistic beauty standards or made me feel inadequate was a massive step. Instead, I sought out communities that celebrated #realbodies and #unfiltered experiences, which helped normalize my own struggles and see beauty in diversity. Another powerful strategy has been active self-compassion. When those old thoughts creep in – 'I'm ugly as a woman,' 'I'm fat and ugly' – I consciously challenge them. I ask myself: Would I say that to a friend? No. So why say it to myself? I've found it incredibly helpful to list out all the things I like about myself that have nothing to do with looks: my kindness, my sense of humor, my intelligence, my resilience, my ability to care for others. These are the things that truly define my worth, not a 'pig nose' or my body size. Embracing vulnerability, as in #embracevulnerability, has also been a game-changer. Sharing my fears, even if just with a trusted friend or in a journal, takes away some of their power. It shows me I'm not alone in feeling this way. It’s a continuous process towards how to accept ugliness and find peace. Every single day is a step towards remembering that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, just as I am, regardless of what anyone else might say. You deserve that same gentle self-love and acceptance too.

my whole life i defined consistency as perfection. if i slipped up, missed a day, made a mistake, then in my head i “broke my streak” and had to start all over again (which is super discouraging) but consistency isn’t doing everything exactly right every day. it’s about showing up to the table -
