When OCD meets mom life 🧺🤍

Living with OCD can make even simple things feel mentally exhausting sometimes.

The clutter gets loud.

The unfinished tasks replay in my head.

And the pressure to “keep up” can feel overwhelming.

But today I’m reminding myself that I don’t need perfection to deserve peace.

Just small steps.

One load of laundry.

One reset at a time. 🧺✨

... Read moreLiving with OCD while managing the demands of motherhood presents a unique set of challenges that many don’t readily see. The constant mental noise from unfinished tasks and clutter can amplify feelings of overwhelm, but I’ve found that acknowledging these emotions is the first step towards regaining control. One thing that has truly helped me is reframing what 'control' means in my life. When my space feels out of control, so does my mind. Rather than striving for perfection, which often feels impossible, focusing on small, manageable actions like completing one load of laundry at a time offers a sense of accomplishment and peaceful progress. I also remind myself that mental health and motherhood don’t have to exist in opposition. It’s okay to set realistic goals, take breaks, and reset as needed. This mindset shift allows me to be more present with my children and less anxious about keeping up with every household task perfectly. Additionally, connecting with online support communities under hashtags like #ocdawareness and #mentalhealthawareness has provided me with valuable insights and encouragement. Sharing experiences with others who understand this delicate balance fosters a sense of solidarity and reduces isolation. If any mom is struggling with similar feelings, I encourage starting with one small reset each day. Whether it’s tidying up a corner of your home or simply pausing for a mindful moment, these incremental steps build resilience. Over time, they help transform chaos into calm and create space for joy amidst the beautiful, messy journey of real motherhood.

Life with OCD and depression.
I feel like theirs a stigma around the fact that when you look better it means you are doing better. The reality is, living with mental illness is never easy. I don’t think there hasn’t been a day in my life that OCD has not impacted me in some way. If it isn’t one, it will certainly be the other.
