botox for “health”: cosmetic excuse? 💉
i was diagnosed with tourette’s syndrome at 7 years old, and what a journey it is. each year, it’s something different… for me it affects the facial & neck muscles the most. hard blinking, eye rolls (that people may think are towards them), and sharp neck movements that cause pain that stays with you. it happens the most during high stress or excitement (they come from the same place - anxiousness is excitement with the introduction of fear). I’ve heard that some use Botox to calm down their symptoms, yet how do you “prove” that it’s not for cosmetics? Botox is $$$… and im afraid it’ll change my face. truly what’s even in it. any personal experiences with Botox?

Hii! (This is purely educational and not meant to scare you out of a decision or anything!) Botox is essentially a micro-dose of the botulinum toxin from the bacteria that causes botulism, which is commonly found in canned goods that aren't preserved correctly. The botulinum toxin that would be found in a dented can of food causes full paralysis until it eventually shuts down essential organ function. However, Botox is dilute enough to only affect the targeted areas (ex. the muscles in your forehead or cheeks). Even though it sounds scary, it's completely safe as directed by a licensed doctor! :)
