I’m back again trying to decide if i continue with gel nails or try bare nails again. But if i try bare nails again i HAVE to get them professionally maintained every 2 weeks i feel. So i feel like nail salons should lean into this and try to get business from the natural nail girlies too!! Lmk what you guys think! #barenails #nailsalon
Lately, I've been seriously considering the shift away from gel nails to embrace the bare nails trend, which so many are loving for its natural, clean girl look. What’s really caught my attention is how natural nails require consistent care to stay healthy and attractive—something I hadn’t fully appreciated before. From my experience, gel nails offer durability and a polished finish that lasts, but they come at the cost of longer salon visits and, often, weakened natural nails underneath. After years of getting gel manicures, I noticed my nails became brittle and less healthy. That’s what’s making me think hard about going bare again—but bare nails need attention too. Maintaining natural nails professionally every two weeks has become essential to me. This usually means a quick salon visit to clean and shape the cuticles, apply a strengthening treatment, and keep the nails looking neat without polish. The salons I’ve been to usually bundle this care with polish and a 30-minute appointment, but I think an express option—maybe 15 minutes focusing just on nail health—would be ideal, and I’m willing to subscribe monthly for something like this. Interestingly, the bare nails trend feels like a subtle sign of current economic shifts, as more people prioritize minimalism and nail health over elaborate manicures. Plus, saving hours of salon time is a huge bonus for busy lifestyles. If more nail salons adapt by offering tailored, time-efficient services for natural nails, it could be a game changer. I’d love to hear from others who have made the switch or are balancing gel and natural nails. What’s your routine? Do you find professional maintenance every two weeks feasible? And for nail salons out there, is there a chance you’d consider a subscription model aimed at natural nail enthusiasts? This could be a perfect solution for people like me who want to rock the bare nails look but don’t want to sacrifice nail health or hassle-free upkeep.
