What if I told you your anger isn’t the problem….

Be Slow to Anger….

Can I be real for a second?

There were times I kept letting things slide… people talking to me any kind of way, situations that tested my peace. I’d stay calm, tell myself “it’s not worth it,” and keep quiet. But then one day, I snapped.

Now sis, don’t act like you haven’t been there. You know that moment when you’ve had enough and you say, “Oh, I’m done being nice”? Yeah… that one.

But here’s the truth: afterward, I didn’t feel good about it. My flesh felt satisfied for two seconds, but my spirit? Convicted. The Holy Spirit checked me quick because that outburst didn’t reflect who I really am. It drained me more than it healed me.

And through studying God’s word, I’ve learned something powerful—being slow to anger isn’t weakness, it’s wisdom.

James 1:19-20 (NIV) says, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

That verse hit me hard. Anger is easy. Self-control is spiritual maturity.

Pause Before You Respond Proverbs 14:29 — “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” When emotions rise, pause and breathe. Give yourself a second to invite the Holy Spirit into the conversation before your flesh does the talking.

Release the Offense Ephesians 4:31-32 — “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger… Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Forgiveness isn’t about them, it’s about freeing yourself. Holding onto anger keeps you chained to the moment you were hurt.

Your anger might actually be wisdom.
Women are often taught that anger means something is wrong. That we’re being emotional. Overreacting. Dysregulated. But anger is actually a boundary emotion. It shows up when something inside you recognizes that a line has been crossed… or that something in your life needs to change.
