Anyone who shares their life with a cat knows how expressive their eyes can be—a single look can say a thousand words without one being spoken. After my Saturday escape, Atchoum’s intense gaze was a perfect example of feline communication. It felt like he was silently saying, "Where have you been?" or "Why were you gone without me?" This kind of judgmental stare is both amusing and heartwarming. Cats have a unique way of showing their feelings that sometimes leaves us guessing, but their eyes are especially powerful. Large, fixed gazes can indicate curiosity, mild displeasure, or even a gentle reminder that you’re missed. In my experience, the best way to ease a cat’s judgment after being away is through gentle petting and offering treats, which helps them feel reassured and valued. This small interaction reminded me of the strong bond cats form with their humans. Despite being independent creatures, they notice changes and absence and react in their subtle ways. It’s a beautiful reminder that our pets watch over us just as much as we watch over them. These moments make living with a cat endlessly precious and full of personality.

Last week I told you that one of the things Atchoum hates the most is the sound of winter coats and boots. BUT a coat left on the couch that makes a squish squish sound is always very interesting for playtime… especially when a finger is moving inside the coat. 😂🫣

Atchoum wakes me up every morning at 5:30 a.m. As soon as I’m awake… he goes right back to sleep. 😪 Then, when I decide to take an afternoon nap, he comes to wake me up. 🫩 And the moment I’m awake… he goes back to bed again. So I decided that he doesn’t get to nap either. 😈
