1 tablespoon yellow or Dijon mustard (I use dijon)
1 tablespoon salted butter
DIRECTIONS:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together mayo, egg, mustard, lemon juice, Old Bay, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Next, add your RITZ crackers and crab meat to the mixture and GENTLY FOLD THE MIX. DO NOT STIR OR YOU WILL HAVE SHREDDED CRABMEAT.
Make patties once the mixer is combined well, butter a baking sheet and a piece of butter on the top of each crab cake (do not skip this).
Place them on a baking sheet and put them in your preheated to 375° oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until it's done enough for you according to your oven. Let cool for a few minutes and enjoy! 😋🦀

... Read moreCrab cakes are a classic seafood dish cherished for their rich, delicate flavors and satisfying texture. This recipe specifically calls for lump blue swimming crab meat, known for its sweet taste and large flakes, which is ideal for maintaining a tender and hearty bite. One key ingredient that elevates the texture is the use of crushed Ritz crackers instead of traditional breadcrumbs, which adds a subtle buttery crunch and binds the cakes perfectly without overwhelming the crab's natural flavor.
Old Bay seasoning is a quintessential spice blend in many crab cake recipes, providing a distinctive balance of herbs and spices including celery salt, paprika, and black pepper. Combined with lemon juice and Dijon mustard, the seasoning cut through the richness of the mayonnaise and butter to brighten the overall taste. The recommendation to gently fold the crab meat with the wet ingredients rather than stirring is important to prevent breaking up the delicate crab pieces, ensuring the cakes hold together without becoming shredded.
For preparation, preheating the oven to 375°F and baking the crab cakes for 10-12 minutes while basting them with a bit of salted butter results in a golden, crisp exterior while keeping the inside moist and flavorful. This baking method offers a healthier alternative to frying while maintaining that desirable crust. Optional hot sauce can be added for a spicy kick.
Enhance your crab cake experience by serving them with fresh lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or a remoulade to complement the seasoning perfectly. Crab cakes are versatile and pair wonderfully with light salads, grilled vegetables, or classic sides like coleslaw or seasoned rice.
This recipe is suitable for both novice cooks and seasoned seafood lovers looking to try a homemade feast. Following these steps ensures a reliably delicious dish that can be recreated easily at home for gatherings or family dinners. Don't forget to experiment with additional herbs like fresh parsley or chives to tailor the flavor to your preference while keeping the focus on the high-quality crab meat.
