Leaving college for break 😞😞

That car ride home after saying goodbye to your college friends? It hits different, doesn't it? Staring out the window at the blurred city lights and streaks of traffic, all those memories from the semester just flash by. I swear, the silence in the car was so much louder than any campus buzz, and it made me realize how much I’m already missing my crew. It's totally okay to feel a bit heartbroken when you're leaving friends for college break. One moment you're living life to the fullest with your besties, and the next, you're packing up, driving a car at night, wondering when you'll all be together again. I know for me, after this first semester at Umiami, the thought of not seeing my amazing friends for weeks felt like an eternity. The 'leaving college for break' blues are definitely real! So, how do we deal with this 'missing college friends' feeling? I've been trying a few things. Firstly, don't bottle it up! Text your friends, share how you're feeling. Chances are, they're missing you too! We’ve already planned a few FaceTime movie nights and even a virtual game session. It really helps to know you’re not alone in this. Beyond just texting, setting up regular virtual hangouts can make a huge difference. Maybe a weekly coffee chat over video, or a study session if you're both tackling summer classes. It keeps the bond strong and reminds you that distance doesn't mean disconnect. I'm also planning to send out some handwritten cards – a little old-school, but I think it shows you really care! It’s all about making that extra effort to stay connected after leaving friends for college. It's also a great time to reconnect with family and high school friends, or even dive into hobbies you didn't have time for on campus. But don't feel guilty for still missing your college friends. Those bonds are unique, and it’s a sign of how amazing your first semester was. It just shows how much you value those friendships. The important thing is to remember that this break is temporary. You'll be back on campus before you know it, making new memories. Until then, cherish the memories you made, stay in touch, and focus on recharging so you can come back even stronger.
