MY Brazilian Wedding Experience
My boyfriend, Joao, is Brazilian and we’ve been together roughly four years or so. I’ve been to Brazil twice to visit his family and this past December I had the opportunity to be in his sister’s wedding. The language barrier is difficult his family knows little English and I don’t know as much Portuguese as I should. Although I didn’t understand much of the wedding, it was a beautiful ceremony. Maybe I did not understand everything that had been said but the differences in the detail and procedures were unique and an elegant addition to the matrimony compared to typical American weddings.
Stepping into a traditional Brazilian wedding as an American was an experience I'll never forget! There was an abundance of delicious food and refreshing drinks, with the bar area bustling with activity, perfect for enjoying a drink with friends. The celebrations often go on well into the early hours of the morning, with a continuous flow of music, dancing, and heartfelt conversations.
